Food Technology is the application of food science to the selection, preservation, processing, packaging, distribution, and use of safe, nutritious, and wholesome food.

A food technologist should be able to help you

  • Developing new, and modifying existing, products and processes
  • Checking and improving quality control procedures in suppliers' factories, from the raw material stage through to the finished product
  • Developing product ideas
  • Selecting products from suppliers
  • Addressing issues of safety and quality
  • Liaising and co-operating with colleagues in procurement and technical services, and also with official food inspection and hygiene agencies
  • Carrying out feasability study on local food production
  • Etc.
