Refined Sunflower (HTOUR) Oil

The refined sunflower oil must be of sound, fair and marketable quality and must meet the following criteria:

  • water and impurities: 0.2% m/m maximum (control method: ISO 662 or AOCS Ca 2 d-25 at 105° C)
  • insoluble impurities: 0.05% m/m maximum (control method: ISO 663)
  • free fatty acids: 0.15% maximum, expressed as oleic acid (control method: ISO 660 or AOCS Ca 5a-40)
  • linolenic acid: 1.5% maximum of total fatty acids present (control methods: ISO 5508 and 5509)
  • linoleic acid: 45% minimum of total fatty acids present (control methods: ISO 5508 and 5509)
  • delta-7-stigmasterol: 9% minimum of total sterol content (control method: ISO 6799)
  • colour: 5 1/4 inch Lovibond scale maximum 15 yellow – 1.5 red (control method: AOCS Cc 13b-45)
  • soap content: 0.005% m/m maximum (control method: AOCS Cc 15-60)
  • taste: neutral/bland; absence of foreign odours and flavours
  • peroxide number:  2 meq. maximum of active oxygen per kg of oil at point of loading (control method: ISO 3960 or AOCS Cd 8-53)
  • iodine value (Wijs): 118-141 g/100g (control method: ISO 3961)
  • authorised additives: 100 mg maximum of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT-E-321) per kg (control method: ISO 6463)
  • specific weight at 20˚C: 0.918-0.923 g/cm³
  • refractive index at 40˚C: 1.467-1.469
