Refined Bleached Deodorised Palmolein Oil

Fit for human consumption, of sound fair and marketable quality, meeting the following criteria:

  • water and impurities: 0.1% m/m maximum (control method: ISO 662 or AOCS Ca 2 d-25 at 105° C)
  • insoluble impurities: 0.05% m/m maximum (control method: ISO 663)
  • free fatty acids: 0.1% maximum expressed as palmitic acid (control method: ISO 660 or AOCS Ca 5a-40)
  • acid value: 0.55 maximum mg KOH per gram (control method: ISO 660 or AOCS Ca 5a-40)
  • colour: 5-1/4 inch Lovibond cell, red 3 maximum, yellow 30 maximum (control method AOCS Cc 13b-45)
  • soap content: 0.005% m/m maximum (control method: AOCS Cc 15-60)
  • taste: neutral/bland; absence of foreign odours and flavours
  • peroxide number:  2 meq. maximum of active oxygen per kg of oil at point of loading (control method: ISO 3960 or AOCS Cd 8-53)
  • iodine value (Wijs): 55 - 60 g/100g  (control method: ISO 3961)
  • saponification: 195 – 205 mg KOH per gram
  • unsaponifiable matter: 1.2% maximum (control method: AOCS Ca 6a-40)
  • refractive index at 40° C: 1.4580 – 1.4590
  • relative density: 0.910 - 0.950 (water at 27° C)
  • melting point: 24° C maximum (slip, softening and rising points)
